Still Time To Enter Efficiency Awards
A £1 million prize fund to improve the energy efficiency of Scotland’s housing stock is still up for grabs.
Entries to the Scottish Government’s Energy Efficiency Design Awards 2010-11 must be made by 19 April.
Run by the Energy Saving Trust, the competition can offer a cash injection worth up to £250,000 into projects that look improve the efficiency of homes across Scotland.
A large proportion of properties in Scotland, such as Victorian tenements, historic buildings and buildings with flat roofs, are not suitable for basic energy efficiency measures like cavity wall and loft insulation.
The awards aim to solve problems like these by providing support for housing associations, the construction industry, designers, councils and community groups to come up with ideas that improve efficiency through the innovative use of design, materials, and technologies.
Projects must focus on residential properties in Scotland and lead to at least a 40% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions
Entries must be made by 19 April 2010. A limited amount of development funding worth up to £5,000 per organisation is on offer to help applicants devise their projects.
