Resource Efficiency Grants Up For Grabs
Green grants are still available to improve capacity in the resource efficiency sector across Yorkshire and the Humber.
The Greenhouse Gas Savings Capital Investment Fund can offer SMEs funding ranging from £1,000 to £100,000 to slash waste, increase reuse and recycling, and develop products that reduce energy or water consumption.
Funded by regional development agency Yorkshire Forward, the programme is managed by their CO2Sense Yorkshire initiative – a not-for-profit body set up to help regional businesses make the most of the shift to a low carbon economy.
CO2Sense Yorkshire is particularly keen to reduce emissions from the food and drink sector.
Andrew Hartley, their operations director, said:
“Cutting the Yorkshire and Humber food and drink sector’s CO2 emissions is a priority. With increasing landfill tax and a potential ban on sending food waste to landfill, now is the time for food and drink waste collection and waste processing businesses to look at expanding into this market opportunity.”
Andy Lowe, food and drink project manager for CO2Sense Yorkshire, added:
“These funding packages will help businesses to grow and prosper, increasing regional competitiveness, and generating the expertise to transform Yorkshire and Humber into a low carbon economy.”
Applications must be made by 1 March 2010.
